Hey Divas!
I’m back from my vacation with some swatches from MAC’s upcoming Semi-Precious Collection! The collection is mostly consists of mineralized eyeshadows, blushes and skin finishes. I LOVE SKINFINISHES! Please see my Semi-Precious Collection and official info post for more information. I updated the post because I bought Rose Quartz, Golden Gaze and the 2 eye brushes. I updated again because I went into the store today. The only thing I bought was Feeling Flush but I swatched everything else.
Semi-Precious Goldstone Mineralized Skinfinish ($28)
This is so pretty! The inner part of the MSF of a mix of pink, peach, and gold marbled together, while the outside is golden bronze. Both parts have simmer that gives off a soft glow when applied. When both colors are combined it looks more of a peachy gold. The thing that I really love about this MSF is that I like both colors separately as well as mixed together. While all skintones can wear Goldstone, this is probably the best MSF out of the 4 in the collection for darker skintones.

Semi-Precious Rose Quartz Mineralized Skinfinish ($28)
Now I thought Goldstone was pretty! OMG Rose Quartz is gorgeous! The middle is a mix of pink, copper, and a pale lime and the outer part is a soft slightly simmery pink. Rose Quartz gives you a soft pink glow with a subtle shimmer. I favor the outer color more than the middle and both mixed together because it’s just soooo pretty. Rose Quartz is really the only must have for me from the collection.

Golden Gaze Mineralized Eyeshadow ($19.50)
Golden Gaze looks gold and black in the pan but in all actually is a dirty gold, bronze-like color. I was really surprised to see how pigmented Golden Gaze is, it looks the same wet and dry. It’s super pretty but not the most unique color but I’m glad I bought it. This will probably be the only mineralized eyeshadow I get use out of. I totally forgot to swatch some possible dupes so check back tomorrow or sunday.

Hint of Sapphire Mineralized Eyeshadow ($19.50)
Hint of Sapphire is full of blues and a little bit of cooper, pink, purple and teal. All combined you end up with a light metallic blue with a hint of purple. It’s a pretty color but it’s not a must have for me. When I first swatched it something was very familiar so I went digging in my storage. Turns out that Hint of Sapphire is almost an exact dupe of the lighter color in the mineralized eyeshadow duo Sea & Sky that was released in the ElectroFlash collection in 2008. Hint of Sapphire might have a tad bit more purple than Sea & Sky but needless to say I was still disappointed. Check your local store or counter because I still see Sea & Sky lingering around.

Musky Amethyst Lipstick ($14.50)
Musky Amethyst looks like a deep ruby-red in the tube but applied it’s very different. It goes on as a brownish plum but it’s still a pretty lipstick, I guess I was hoping it would be more red even though MAC describes it as a deep plum. It applies very smoothly and it’s totally buidable and even though it’s a frost it doesn’t look like it when applied to the lips. It reminds me of some of the colors in my Favorite Winter Lippies post. I like wine, burgundy and plum lipsticks so it’s a keeper but I just won’t be reaching for it until late Fall and Winter.

Feeling Flush Mineralized Blush ($23.00)
I wasn’t supposed to want or buy this but I couldn’t resist. Feeling Flush is super pretty, it’s dupeable but super pretty. The only reason I bought it was because the purple in it pulled out on my skintone and I love blushes with purple in it. So if you don’t have anything like Feeling Flush you might want to grab it while you can.
234 Split Fibre Eye Blending Brush ($27) & 235 Split Fibre All Over Eye Brush ($36.50)
I have to test these out more before I give my opinion on them. I will say that they are super stuff and well made. I used the 235 today and I like it so far but I still need to test it out more.
The rest of the collection was swatched in store.
Gem Of Roses
Pure Magnificence, Natural Flare, Looks Like Sin, Richly Revered, Geo Pink
Blushes: Feeling Flush, Feeling Flush, Pressed Amber, Warmth of Coral. MSF: Semi Precious Pearl, Semi Precious Crystal Pink
Mineralized Eyeshadows- I don’t remember which is which but if you need to know leave a comment ans I’ll figure it out.
I wasn’t really wowed by the rest of the collection. Gem Of Roses is pretty but I honestly don’t understand the hype and why it’s sold out. The only eyeshadows I like are Quartz Fusion, Golden Gaze, Unsur-passible and Dark Indulgence.
