Renowned master perfumer Jacques Cavallier perfectly married the opposing fragrance facets, enveloping the masculine fougere accord with a luscious feminine blend of violet flowers and mimosa, one of Halle’s favorite flowers, and a presence in all of her perfumes. A rich, warm center is surrounded by delicate notes and a bubbly ozonic top accord, it melds seamlessly into the skin and leaves a complex and intriguing aura. The result: a woodsy floral fougere that is utterly modern and original. Closer by Halle Berry borrows from the masculine and is perfected for women.

A Closer Look
Just as the fragrance has an appeal that extends to both men and women, so too does the packaging design. Streamlined and modern, it is an instant classic. Both the bottle and the carton are adorned with an intricate lined design that mimics the contours of the body, both male and female. This provocative curvature shows up on the elegant prism-shaped bottle, creating an enticing play of opposites that achieves a perfect unity. The signature HB logo is discreetly embossed throughout the packaging, a subtle nod to the fragrance’s iconic creator.

In the provocatively beautiful advertising campaign photographed by Alexei Hay and
directed by Francis Lawrence, Halle Berry plays with the same gender roles of her fragrance. Donning a man’s white oxford button-down accented with her monogrammed initials and tie, a sliver of her black, lacy bra visible, Halle stands confidently, eyes transfixed on the camera, a pair of bare, muscular male arms wrapped around her body. Her fragrance draws them together, a mutual olfactive attraction that cannot be denied.
